The Jenny Lecoat Award for short screenplays

About The Award

2019 saw the first year of a new independent film and music festival in Jersey, the 13th Parish Festival, organised by local and ex-local film professionals and film aficionados.

Sponsored by Soroptimist International Jersey, The Jenny Lecoat Award for short screenplays has become an annual part of the festival programme.

From 2020 the competition is open to all women writers over 16 years of age, who either have a Channel Island connection, or whose work explores themes relating to the islands through location, character, history, or other themes.

Scripts must be written in English and should not exceed 17 pages in length. Only original works are permitted (no adaptations) and the work must not yet have been performed or screened in public.

Regrettably the competition will not run in 2021 due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
